Trolling Motor Pedal Smoking

I have a Motorguide pro series 46lbs 12v >when I was out today my foot pedal started smoking.This is the second trolling motor I have had that have had this happen.The reason I purchased this motor was because my last one started on fire also.The pedal starts to smike when pressing the switch down I just replaced the micro switch last week.

I'm 99% sure it's just your control board. Not too expensive to fix and you can probably do it yourself for around $100.
