I have a transom mount Minn Kota trolling motor that I have now installed on the bow....
Works great but the shaft(not the handle) is about 2-3" to short.
Any ideas as how to extend it? I was thinking about replacing the shaft, but how do you get the motor off of the end of the shaft?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Trolling Motor Shaft Extention

The are suposed to screw off springbok. But it's been my experience that a little heat is needed if it's a metal shaft. If it's a fiberglass shaft or equevelent, they most likely spinter and break.....but that makes it easier to get out. Longer shafts are available through Minn Kota or a MK dealer.

Re: Trolling Motor Shaft Extention

I thought I needed a longer shaft on my new Minn Kota so I called a local Minn Kota repair center, they quoted me less than $100 and about an hour to do it. Check your manual to find a service center near you. Good luck.
