The motor is probably fine. Hook it up and see what it does before going to the water eith it, but it should be fine.

EDIT: Ranger, I remind you that personal insults are forbidden here. JB

CastawayRay
I thought I was the only one that did that.
In 1993 I bought mine at below cost from the
dealer because it had been collecting dust for
two years. Brought it home and kept it warm
and dry also until two weeks ago! Mounted it
on the bow and we took it (and oars) :) for a
test run... on lowest speed it pulled my 1700
lb boat with two people fast enough to troll
wedding rings.. 1 1/2 hours and 6 bass later
we figured it was working just fine!
Johnson 29 lb thrust

Hope yours works as good
Link

woo hooo, good for you Link!

Mine is a 28 Motor Guide, bought it years ago from my ex live ins family, THEY got it by some guy dying that they used to crab with, he hated rowing or waiting for the boat to come tow him to a new place *beaver dam rentails* so he brought along a little battery and the motor, rinsed it all off ... eh, fifty bucks, I was happy

of course, I want to get a pair of fifty pound trollers and a gen set to hit the bigger electrics only reserviors, go to the far less fished end

tho Ill tell ya, I used to do great not far from the dock, everyone goes out a bit and fish only know structure and food, if there is structure, theres food usually!
