I bought a new (2000 MY)16 foot Nova AL bass boat off of ebay from a guy that had a dealership that closed and he had previously sold the outboard and trolling motor off the boat. Looking on the bow, there is 4 mounting holes in a rectangular pattern with the long leg being 11 3/8" and short leg being 4".

Is this bolt pattern somewhat standard in general or standard to a specific manufacture?

The boat is set up with a 3 prong adaptor on the bow that leads to a 12V/24V two battery compartment for TM, and then there is a separate 12V for starting, fish finder etc.

I need some guidance on the most painless install of a TM. I live on a moderate flowing river, so I am assuming I will need to go 24V.

Thanks, Tneker

Re: Trolling Motor Standard Bolt Patterns?

I've installed 5 or 6 TMs. NONE of them ever had mounting holes that match the older holes on used boats. Good Luck.

What I almost always wind up doing, ANYHOW...is mounting the TM onto a flat board with T nuts (countersunk and Stainless if in Salt Water). The TM is then removed from the board, and the board is mounted onto the boat in the best position I can find. I then re-mount the TM to the board. It seems to me that the mounting holes on TMs NEVER line up with the best areas to drill and place nuts on the boat itself. RichG
