Iam trying to attach a transducer to my troiiling motor.Wondering If anyone is familar with the Minkota power drive, and how it slides through its mount?Iam having a problem with routing the cord. so that the shaft wil still slide and not bunch up the cord.Any advice from anyone who has done this with this motor would be greatly appreciated thanks alot.

Re: Trolling motor transducer

It is easily done. Most folks attempt to tie wrap the wire to the shaft and that obviously won't work since the shaft must slide through the steering collar. The technique is shown in the pictures that follow. Basically you secure the cable at the motor end of the shaft. It must hang free as it parallels up the shaft and is then secured ABOVE the steering collar. It is then routed through the coil cord and on to the locator. There can be no twists or knots in the cord as it mast be free to pass through the coil cord as the motor is raised and lowerded.

This is an older motor. The V2 has the single lever. I have both and both motors have the transducer cable routed the same way. No need to worry about the grip glide handle if yours doesn't have it.

Gets pinched "where?". You must leave enough slack and route it so it doesn't get pinched. The single lever has nothing to do with that.

Re: Trolling motor transducer

It was getting pinched at the big black box thing not sure what that is called got it now I made a small hole in the side of the release lever used a zip tie loosely and it holds the wire up out of the way and the wire travels through the tie and stays up out of the area wher it was being pinched thanks for all your help works great
