I have recently purchased a 2001 Hurricane 196FF with only 185 hours. It has a 12/24 MotorGuide 67 lb. thrust bow mount, hand-controlled trolling motor. The gentleman who I purchased the boat from provided two Continental Group 27 batteries with it. These batteries were not in the boat at the time of purchase. My problem is, I am not sure which wires go where on the batteries. There are 4 wires. 1 solid black, 1 black w/ blue stripe, 1 solid red, and 1 red with blue stripe. The solid red and solid black are loosely taped together as if they went on the same terminal. If anyone has any idea how these were wired from the factory, or any advice as to how to hook these up, I would really like to know. Thanks.

Re: Trolling motor wires

I recently purchased a 2000 196FF with the same wiring problem. Can't wait to hear an answer.

If anyone has the answer, please help.

What type of receptacle do the wires go to? I think I know how it gets wired, but won't comment until I know what type of receptacle is being used.

I bet a quick call to Hurricane would solve your problem.

Terri sent me all the wiring schematics PDF for my 202.

Send her an e-mail. Godfrey is looking into posting all this data on-line sometime soon.
