Trolling motor ?

I have a 12v min-kota 55lb my boat is a 14 foot
fiberglass boat the other night it was very slow
moving my boat and the plug got so hot it melted
what would cause it maybe a bad plug or a bad ground
i need to get this fixed thanks.

Check all the connections to be sure they are clean and tight. Also pull the prop off and check for fishing line wrapped around it.

If it was the plug that was getting hot, chances are either the plug or the receptacle is making marginal connection.

Also have you got a 50 amp circuit breaker on it? It should have tripped it.

You have a dirty connector, bad connection or corroded wire somewhere in that power feed that is restricting your current flow. F

I went to wal-mart today and bought
a new plug for trolling motor and it
was all i needed works great but whoever
put this motor on the boat had two hot
wires going from my trolling motor
i took one of them off works alot better
now .
