Re: Trolling Motors

Your boat may already be setup for a 24 volt trolling motor. Did you buy from an individual or did you buy from a boat dealer? Reason I ask is because the previous owner of the boat should know for sure. Buy the way it sounds your already setup for 24 volts. Does it have any cables/wires in the extra battery slots?

Yes There Is 2 Extra Loose Wires Red And Black Not As Heavy Gage As A Battery Cable But Thicker Than Normal Wire If I Hook A Battery To These Wires How Do I Make It 24 Volts

You need to hook up both batteries in the battery storage compartment and then run one set of black and red wires to the trolling motor plug. Connect the batteries up in series + to - and - to + to get 24 volts.

Correct. Something for you to think about is how to charge those two extra batteries. You engine won't do it. Your options are limited to an on-board two or three bank charger that you plug into shore power at the dock.

I converted to a 24v trolling motor this spring. Shortly after I installed a two bank 5/5 battery charger. Everything worked great all season. The extra power in the larger trolling motor is great. But the beast part of the 24v system is all the extra battery capacity. Realy happy I upgraded.

Make sure you get the most thrust you can afford 70lb+. I've been on the lake/river on windy days with less and the boat barely fights the wind/current.
