hi !

i am planning a tour to the baltic sea in germany driving through the water and not trailering the boat. that means on one hand nice landscapes riding though smaller channels and rivers, but on the other hand many hours of trolling. speed limits on small channels would dictate rpms in th range of 1300-1600 for hours, and i know my 150hp V6 ficht ram is not truly build for such.

some people rumour that you kann kill a ficht with running it in stratofied injection for a long period due to very hot pistons , other say just check and maybe regap the plugs. does somebody has more information and experiences about trolling for long periods with a V6 ficht ram ?

when it comes to carbon build up... well - i think i could "remove" it when being at the sea with other rpms than 1300... :D

What model number FICHT 150 do you have? The later ones were built by Bombardier and were very good. Be sure that the thermostats warm up the cylinders and cylinder heads correctly ( 3 t'stats on most later models) and that the exhuast pressure sensor tube is clean and not plugged up. Carry extra plugs as they may get worn fairly quickly with all that low speed running. Using Evinrude XD-50 or XD-100 oil would help a lot and cut down carbon buildup.

Re: trolling with a ficht ram...

i have the upgraded "ram" ficht with pinned heads , year is 2000. when i am correct the original fichts were 97-99 and had problems with the heads, plug fouling and overheating and the 2000 and later models were ficht "ram" , deeply reworked with help from bombardier . but official manufacturer of the 2000 model is still OMC, bombardier fully took over in the end of 2000 to 2001.

i owned the boat right now and after installing brand new plugs, fuel filters and gearoil it runs from idle to wot without any problem- hopefully it will stay so. i currently use evinrude xd50 oil. a set of new spare plugs is maybe a good idea, even when my plugs have maybe 2 hours on it, correctly gaped and indexed. for the exact model number i need to check the documents, would it help you ?
