yes, I'm new to boating so bear with me, I have a 2359 trophy hardtop, love the boat but have some questions.I have a 87 gallon gas tank (confirmed by bayliner) the last two times the gas gauge was at a 1/4 to empty, when I filled it ,it only took 35 gallons is there a censer unit some were and is easy to change out and were is this gas tank locate?
2. bilge pumps, have one forward and one aft, there is water standing between
the two pumps at all the times, is this normal ? when I turn the aft pump on about 10 gallons are so are pumped out, but the water line from forward to aft stays the same, also I don't think my aft pump is turning on automatically and its brand new. this is a lot to ask but from what I have read on this site there are a lot of well informed people.

First off fuel gauges in most boats are very inaccurate ( as you know). Don't depend on them. Your model should have the tank just to the rear of midships. Look on the deck for some round plates ( deck plates ) they will either be a screw in type or snap in type. Under those will be your fuel sending unit. You shouldn't be forgetting the fuel gauge itself. A loose, corroded or damaged wire will also lead to false readings. So, check both.
The bilge pumps. There will always be a small amount of standing water in the bilge. There is a PVC pipe that connects all the the compartments in the bottom of the bilge. When made this pipe will be 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch above the actual bilge deck so any water in there will stay. The pumps won't remove all if it. You say you can pump out 10 gallons of water. How long of a period between pumpouts does this take? Is the boat trailered, slipped?
On the rear pump - is it an internal or external float? If it is an external float type then just reach down and pull up on the float - if the pump comes on then it works. Internal floats have a little problem of getting stuff stuck in the housing keeping the float from functioning properly. You'll need to unsnap it from the housing and take a look. Could also be a wiring problem, just hard to tell without being there.
If the boat is in the water then by all means work on the pumps first. Either way just tackle one project at a time. Fix that - go on to the next. Jumping around from project to project isn't the way to go. Let us know what you find.

don't ever go by the the factory fuel gauges, if you want an accurate reading purchase a fuel management system . Navman, flow scan, Cruz Pro are a couple of them, they usually are + or - 2% accurate. I have a Cruz Pro model installed in my 2302 and I feel a lot better when I venture off shore. also check out the Trophy boat forum, you'll get some info from people w/ just Trophy boats.
