Trottle Arm Parts Help

I was trying to replace some parts on the throttle. This i one of the parts I recieved. It is a good Inch longer. The queston I havr is can I cut this one and grind the the edge to fit like the other or should I just send it back and see if he has a shorter one? Thanks for the time guys

You can cut it off and re-do the end if you are handy at that kind of stuff. The flats have to be in proper relationship to the gear or the throttle position will be way off. Or, you can just swap it back for the correct one.

From what I can see, the gears are the same type (cast bronze) right? Some of the older ones were stamped brass and they are not interchangeable.
