Trouble finding old Merc 700 E garden hose adapter for water pump inlet

Does anyone know where I can find the threaded garden hose adapter to fit the (I think) 3/8"-16 water pump inlet?

These outboards don't use ear muffs as the intake water through the trim tab. I thought I'd be able to find this through oldmercs.com or maxrules.com but can't seem to find anything like it. Hard to make one because there isn't a 3/8"-16 standard pipe thread. Thought about drilling out a bolt

Same threads as gear lube plugs?
Can you manufacture one out of
a gear lube fill adaptor that threads in?
I've seen them somewhere, have you
checked at West Marine?
