I have a 1993 18ft ski boat witn a 230B. When I bought the boat it had a 15X19 broken prop on it. I bought a 13 X 15 used and tryed it. The boat didn't plane out well and the RPMs were high at full speed, I blamed the prop and bought a new 15X19. Now it is ten times worse. It will not plane out at all. Is this a prop issue or could it be performance related? I also tried it with and without a "whale tail". Please help before it I send it to the bottom of the lake.

The drive is trimmed to high.

I trim all the way down to get on a plane and after about two minutes I finally get up to speed and plane out. It is when I am on a plane and try to trim up even a little tht the porposing starts.

I'm not at all familiar with a 230b but it appears it is a 4cly. Your boat is not a powerhouse that is going to jump up on plane even if everything is in tip top shape.

I would suggest a good tune up of it has not had one. Ditch any unneeded weight that may be in the boat or move it to the front. Anchors, tools, etc.

Also check to see if the hull could be waterlogged and/or have wet foam.

Get a pair of Nuaticus sx trim tabs. They work wonders for underpowered boats.

Weight distribution? Sounds like too much weight in the rear. I'm assuming it's a closed bow. If it is open, put someone up front and see if it solves your issue...

What prop? There is much more to propeller performance than just pitch and diameter.

It is a factory Volvo prop. As far as weight distribution only me and my brother-in-law in the boat and he was sitting in the front (open bow).

If the foam is waterlogged could it add that much weight? If so can I just remove the foam? Do I have to replace it?
