On the last couple runs out, I have had an issue on my port engine. I have twin 1989 Evinrude 120 V4's.

I was out Sun am, and the same thing happened. It idles fine, runs up fine, but @ 20 min into the trip, it sputtered and lost @ 500rpm. It just runs rough, and will periodically pop out of it and run fine.

I can't tell if it's dropping a cylinder, or a fuel issue.

On a friend's suggestion to test for a clogged carb jet, I hit the choke when it happened, but that didn't seem to affect it (besides sputtering & loosing more rpm if I held the choke down as would be expected).

I did check the primer pump, which seemed fine (was not sucked in). I did pump the primer bulb once, and it did kick it back to normal rpm for a second, but then back down.

What is strange is how intermittent it is. I will just happen out of the blue, go for a while, then pop out of it. I am thinking it's a fuel issue, & that I should change the filter. That said, the other engine does not have any symptoms, and it feeds off the same tank and had the filter changed at the same time.

One thing that just came to mind - I do use the Lowrance ep-10 fuel flow monitors. The one on the port engine stopped working last year. I wonder if that could be causing a disruption in fuel flow??

I'll have to disconnect it, and run it. Any other thoughts, ideas, or system checks you can think of would be appreciated!

Any ideas on what I should be looking for here?
