Ok guys i need your help, i have a Johnson 6hp outboard and ive been having problems with it. It ran great until one fishing trip i was running it and the rpm range started to surge. So i could run at full throttle which meant i had to idle all the way back to the dock. When i got back to the dock i notice that there was a screw and a spring on the or the cover. It turned out to be the needle valve out of the carburater. I was told to screw it all the way in and then back it out 2 turns, i did this but then it would run i low throttle. Because of this i took the carburator off and brought it to a local outboard repair shop where they fixed it. When i picked it up they told me that they had to replace one of the gaskets because it was "water logged" (not the correct term) which caused it to be warped. I then took it home and ran it and it seemed ok other than a few adjustments i would have to make. But when i went to make the adjustments 4 days later, everything went wrong. It seemed like all i had to do was adjust the idling speed at first but then it would acclerate right because it would "bog down" then accelerate. This eventually led it to dying. After battling with this, it killed and didnt start back up. After i pulled the spark plugs out and noticed that there was black stuff all over them, so i cleaned them and within a few minutes they were black again. I checked to see of the carberator was gettin gas and it is. So if any one has any suggestions, i would appreciate it TREMENDOUSLY!
