trouble with sending unit

I pulled my sending unit out of my 70 gallon tank today, to check the depth of the tank. Well when i went to put it back in, i could not get it to set in the tank right, kept acting like it was pointing down and hitting the bottom. the tank was 11in deep. Is there any secret to putting it back in?? Thank you for any help.

Ayuh,.....

Make sure the hinge is pointed the right way,+ it's Not hitting the bottom......

It might take a few shakes,+ wiggles to get it to sit just Right....
