Hi all - had a nice day to work on the new to me pontoon. Have some things to trouble shoot, need some pointers. My Seloc manual will be here in a day or two..... But I can't wait, and you guys are better than the manual anyways...:joyous:
I have a 1989 Mariner 60 ELPTO motor. This is my control box.
It doesn't have any name on it, but I think it is a Quicksilver ???
OK, these are the wires coming out of the back of control box.
What does the pigtail control ? Instrument clusters ? Nothing in the pigtail is connected, except the pigtail purple... which is connected to the white wire that runs to the battery for +12v. If purple doesn't have +12v, the key turned to start won't crank engine. What does purple do ?
OK, next question, tilt switch does nothing. If I go to motor and apply +12v to the up/down trim solenoids, trim works great. To me that means the trim switch is bad, there is a blown fuse in the motor trim wiring, or the trim control wires are not connected. Are the trim wires in that pigtail ?
OK, next question, the fast idle lever is something I'm thinking about. Is that mechanically connected to the throttle cable in the control box ? When I lift the lever, I think I should see the throttle cable on the port side of the motor move (it does not, I see no movement of the throttle cable).
Ok, thanks all for any info ! ! !
