I just purcheased a Sea Nymph 14 R.Got the boat all cleaned up,new tires on the trailer and bearings greased up.Now it's motor time.I was thinking of a 9.9 for the mountain restricted lakes, but my main question is for a bigger one.A 40 is too big,it's rated for 40,but rather have a 25 or maybe a 28,Anyone out there have this boat? It's a mid to late 80's.Very nice, almost like new except for the faded decals.

Seems like a 40 would be a bit much IMO.

I would think a 25 would do fine.

Re: Trying to Figure it Out.

I have a fm 149 with a 25hp rude. Runs just fine, 30 flat on gps with just me. 27-28 with the wife and 2 boys. Great little boat, truely a great peformer in the smaller rivers here in south carolina. Really takes a wave well considering its size and weight. My boat also rated for up to a 40 on the cg plate. I really think that would be overkill and a waste of gas.
