Trying to figure out what outboard to put on my boat.

I bought a 13.5' fiberglass hull from a guy for cheap. I fixed a couple of holes in it and am laying some interior down. Now, without any interior installed, this thing is heavy. It took everything in me to pull it 8 feet to my workspace. No trailer yet, you see.

It's set up to use an outboard with front steering. I'll figure all that out later, but my issue at the moment is trying to figure out how many horses this thing would need. Like I said, it's pretty heavy. I would say easily over 300 lbs. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly helpful. I'm planning on using it for weekend camping trips in Puget Sound during the summer. So me, my wife, two kids, and some gear. Probably an extra 600 lbs between all that.

Re: Trying to figure out what outboard to put on my boat.

Welcome to iboats.

Without any details....... and based on size and steering set up ..... a 40 hp should serve you well.

Can you legally register this hull? You should check!

ALSO

Check out our restoration section here on iboats for re-building information. ;)

Re: Trying to figure out what outboard to put on my boat.

I appreciate that, I'll check it out. This is my first restoration, so I'm driving myself a little nuts trying to figure this whole thing out.

It must have been registered here somewhere, because it has the numbers on the front of the hull and it has an HIN plate on the back. I didn't get a title or anything with it though. I live in Washington State, any thoughts on how to get a title for it so I can register it?

I do appreciate the nice people here helping out a complete noob like me.
