Hey guys I have this plug approximately 6 inches from the floor inside the boat, port side. I have no idea what it does, any thoughts?

Is it a water outlet for a washdown pump? What kind of boat, size, etc?

Ayuh,... It looks like the fitting on my houseboat where the freshwater hose from the house attachs too....
It feeds the houseboat's domestic water system...

Its a Regal Commodore 277 XL, 28 footer. I was hoping it was an engine flush intake, been using it in saltwater. That would be too easy :(

ok I have a Regal commodore 2760 with two of those on the transom, and they are for flushing the engine after salt water use. note they arefor use with the engines not running. if u try to use them on a trailer with no water to the outdrive u would damage your impeller. dont need to say what will happen if done in the water
cheers

There should be an accessory or wash down switch on the dash panel or else, somewhere close to the hose bib.

If it has external threads, it's a water outlet. If it has internal threads, it's for supplying freshwater to the storage tank(s).

If it's a washdown pump, people use to rinse of after swimming, cleaning the boat from fishing 'goo', or whatever you might want freshwater for.

If you hit the switch and don't hear a pump turn on, that's another whole string...

Cronx,
First, can you reach up behind the fitting and trace any hose run off of it, see where it goes? Second, have you contacted Regal in Orlando via email and sent them that pic you posted? CS will be able to tell you...

Re: Trying to identify this plug in my boat..

Ok i made a second check and its the identical plug to mine, its also the same as on an older regal in my marina. it has internal threads, and as such is designed to fit on the opposite end of a hose from the pipe. The fitting that Regal uses for dock side water inlet is similar but a bit larger than this one, and is designed to have a pressure regulator in it.
wash down fittings tend to have external threads, for fitting the pipe (female) end of a water hose.
if its possible it would not be a bad idea to check to see, where the line on the inside of it goes to.
if you have your boat out of the water, with the drain plug out just in case it has been disconnected, just attach a water hose to it and introduce fresh water to it. if it comes out of your outdrive, its the flusher, if it comes out inside the bilge, then its disconnected. if u see nothing coming out check to see if your faucet work without your pump coming on, then its used for dock side water supply. (Note if this fitting is used for dock side water, then ensure a regulator is installed as there is the risk of city power being higher than the boat could take and blowing out a fitting, and flooding your boat. ) and once u have a water fill cap somewhere on your deck u could rule out this being the filler for your fresh water tank, which is very unlikely.

P :) still No Fuss :D
