I am trying to find what year my 25 Hp Evinrude is. I have neither serial # nor model #. The # on the Welsh Plug is63617961. Attached find a pic of the cowlings.
I'm wanting to know the year so I can get a new cowling. I bought it after the Boston Whaler it was on was flipped over off it's trailer by a freak gust of wind. It crunched the back of the cowling.
the reason i said early 90s is i think 1990 was the first year they put the shifter up front. the older ones had the little shifter that is hard to reach half way back on the side. for the plug it is a champion QL77JC4 or L78V or QL82C. I would stick with the first one.
i think any cowling from 1990 until 1995 would fit. i was looking on the brp site and in 1996 the the tops were not square like yours but more round. you might not find the exact decals and im not sure but it is possible you could fit one off a 30hp or maybe even a 35hp. or even find a johnson top of the same era and paint it.
