Hey everybody I am doing transom repair on my my boat. I have gotten everything off but cant figure out how to get the shift cable out so I can replace the bellows on it. I have read the Seloc book and I guess Im just a big dummy lol. Cant make heads or tails of it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Go to the adults only section and find the correct manual there. You can use the seloc as a knee pad as that is all it is good for. You have to remove the cable from the linkage on the engine and then pull it out through the transom. There is a special driver to remove it from the bellhousing. I don't know if there is a DIY wrench setup you could use instead.

Already given him a link to the downloadable version, HERE.

If he's still using the seloc.... (and it's for a Gen II... )

OP... You need to remove all the attaching hardware from the engine end of the cable and then pull in through the bellows to the out side of the boat. Tie a length of cord on it first, then you'll have a way of pulling the new one back in, and it will have followed the right lay path....

are you replacing the shift cable too or just the bellows? If your changing it, just cut off the end so the deep socket will fit on it.

If you have a 1/2" drive 9/16" deep try it, I had a Craftsman and it worked as is.

I welded two deep well sockets together... but the chances are good that you can simply unscrew the plastic guide that is in the way. The new cable you install will more than likely be the same. Simply unscrew the plastic tube to install the cable and then screw it back in.

i wasnt going to change shift cable but I think I will already have it down that far might as well just may have to take a little longer but would rather not have to go back into it. could someone give me the part number that i would need to order this part.

I assume you already have the bellows, so this is the kit without the bellows... -865436A02

I prefer to use OEM for bellows and shift cables... For the extra few dollars, the quality is worth it.
