I pumped the throttle and still didnt work. Im on the way to get some starter fluid for the carb now to try that. Please help. Its a 1987 Mercuiser 3.0 I4 130 hp

Could be lots of things, starter fluid won't fix any of them.

You did not mention how many times it has cranked or for how long. It may need time to fill up the filter then begin filling the fuel bowl on the carb.

You should post what all was done for the winterization also, and if the winterizer left any instructions of what to do or what not to do for Spring re-commissioning.

I had it in for winterizing last summer, The Fuel Filter looks brand new.

It started in the driveway and ran good, Took it to the water, lil trouble but started right up once i throttled a lil bit. let it run for a lil while and ran good the rest of the day. Notch it up for just an old boat?

Yur lucky. I had mine winterized and stored under cover. Paid $650 for dock space BEFORE putting the boat in(do not do this). Within 15 minutes, first voyage of the season, I'm limping back, water pump impeller shot, overheated pretty good. $250.00 and another weekend later, next voyage, within 20 minutes rumbling coming for the upper end. Gimbal bearing shot. Pull the upper end myself and the housing breaks, gimbal stuck to shaft. Finally get the gimbal off the shaft and am told, by old goat Bond-o that the shaft is scrap metal.
Yur lucky.
(apparently impellers need changing every couple years..)

To the original poster

Yes you may have just needed ro repreasureise your fuel system. If the boat sits for an extended perios the fuel runs back to the tank.

Yes water pump impellars NEED to be changed at least every 2 years. Its just good practice even if they look good they can go any time after that.

Re: Trying to start boat for first time of Season

Seems like a worthy thread to deposit such gems...
So I found someone to do what I'd like regarding gimbal bearing/lack of retainer ring..yada
"Bring her with a few gallons of gas in the tank"...so I stop put 20.00 in, get to the shop on a Sunday, hop in boat to get stuff out...I smell gas, strong smell, crawl under steering wheel to get closer look, new $20.00 of gas is leaking out a hole in tank onto the carpeting. No one at the shop, no siphon, spent @ 2 or more hours draining (using various scrounged plastic jugs and a five gallon bucket)and pulling tank out.
It doesn't get any better than this..

I had the same problem, finally siphoned out all the old gas and put fresh gas in, ran fine
