This may be a dumb question, but is there any reason you can’t buy a cap and rotor for a 4.3 vortec engine off of say rockauto vs going oem? Are the plug wires the same length or is that different? Engine is a 4.3 Gxi-g. Seems like you can save some money going this route, but just wanted to check there isn’t something special about the marine version. Thanks

You can buy and use aftermarket rotor, cap and wires and use them on your marine engine. Marine grade usually designates it has been designed to reduce external sparks as to avoid bilge explosions.

The marine distributor caps I use always have a rubber gasket not used on the automotive version and as noted the plug wires are longer to clear the bulky water cooled exhaust manifold.
I like the AC marine spark plugs because they are very corrosion resistant I have never had one rust even in my salt water environment.
