Im bored to death already here in the frozen tundra of northern wisconsin and i decided to work on my motors anyway. I have a storage unit where i have a 30 gal drum with antifreeze/water mixture and would like to do some carb work. My question is will the very low water temp make my adjustments meaningless or will the motor bring the water up to something close to normal (60 or so) water temp. Ill be working on 1.5 hp up to 25 hp. Or will the water temp make starting very difficult anyways. The unit is only heated when im there, and its about 0-10 above lately.

If the motor exhausts thru the prop the water will warm up but I don't recommend running a motor indoors. You can kill yourself with carbon monoxide very quickly.

If you do all the work to the carb now, It'll take ten minutes to tune it in the spring, (outdoors)

Just warm the motor up real well before tuning. They are made to run well in cold weather. You may skip the antifreeze, and use plain water. Just dump it out and make the motor vertical, after you fininsh your work.

I agree, once the engine is warm it shouldn't make much difference and good point about killing yourself you want to avoid that.

We are a little warmer here in Indiana but I know about being boared, I am in the middle of polishing my CMC tilt trim.

Due to the cold(dense) air, you will have to retune in the spring
