I am looking at a new Cape Craft and want a boat I can run in shallow water. The 16 ft.has a draft of 5 to 7 inch.(16cc)The 17 ft. tunnle has a 7 to 9 in. draft. Not familar with tunnle bottom, any suggestions??? When I say shallow water it is only coming in and out of my dock.

You don't tell us how deep the water is. No matter - do not forget to consider the effect on draft that fuel, passangers + gear will have.

Bill S.
A wide flat bottom will have the least amount of draft but the worst ride. If all you care about is draft get some thing as wide and flat as you can.

Tunnels do not have that much hull in the water so each side will go deeper in the water than a flat bottom.

Weight also a factor in draft. A heavy boat with lots of gear and people will run deaper than a light boat with light load.
