Yes the Alison is a very capable motor but very exspensive. It makes horsepower VERY Fast and runs VERY Hot.<br /><br />There are a few cigarette boats running alison engines. It is the same as the Tractor Pulls that have them in "farm tractors".<br /><br />Money $$$$$$$ very exspensive and rare motors to come by. Repairs are hard. Stick with the higher HP outboards or big blocks for power.<br /><br />If you search the Russians developed a pure jet engine specifically for a boat (a high speed boat )<br /><br />Bob

Turbines are fairly common nowdays. Nearly all the Unlimiteds have them. Howard Arnenson has one in a Skater that he offered to run in Offshore as an exhibition and compete the next day aginst the Unlimited Hydros. APBA and Bernie Little both turned him down. He set the record for speed going up the Mississippi in one. He beat the ground crew to the finish even though the highway was fairly straight and the river is a crooked mess. <br /><br />Don't stand behind one!
