Turn the key and hear PING!! Starting issue 4.3 OMC

Hy everyone
I have a 1997 OMC 4.3 in/outboard engine. This weekend while out on the lake I "started" having a issue while starting the engine. About one out of every ten starts, instead of the engine cranking over all I hear is a loud "PING"!! I then turn the key again and it cranks over. Any ideas???

Starter may be giving you a warning it is about go out.
