No looking to make an investment or installation since it would only be used once or twice a season.Anyone try one of those inexpensive "clear TV" portable antennas on a boat?? I have heard that everyone knows someone that uses it and it works but no 1st hand info.Anyone??

Its going to be totally dependent on where the boat is located.

The antennas designed for houses, like the flat "paper" antennas which have become common, are not ideal on a boat, because a boat moves. If it's in a slip or docked, it may work okay. If it's at anchor, or on a mooring, and shifting with the wind, you're going to get sketchy performance. That's why marine tv antennas are omnidirectional, and generally within a saucer shaped housing. Shakespeare has a relatively small one, I think just 4 inches in diameter, if space is an issue.
