TW 5.5 surging @ load

In heavy current or load the RPMS shoot up, Similar to a transmision slipping. Once i bring the RPM's down the motor engages and runs fine. But i can never get the benifit of the motor, due to it can only be ran @ mid throttle.<br /><br />I also have a Merc. 9HP w/ the same condition. Some luck i have.

If the motor has a neutral the clutch may be slipping.<br /> The prop may have a spun hub you can take off the prop and mark the hub with indelible marker<br />and take a test run then check the mark to see if the hub moved.The Merc may have the same problem.Also your transom may be too tall for the motors.It usually should measure about 15 inches.
