TW Gamefisher 5.0 No Spark

Checked for spark on a Gamefisher 5.0 that hasn't been run or even attempted in several years. No spark. It's a Tecumseh air cooled power head.

Coil looks good and I sanded and gapped the points, still no sparky.

Short conversation with the local marine repair shop and his advice was 100 feet of nylon rope, as I own more of an anchor than a motor. Parts availability was his major concern.

Are parts available for this thing? If they are, is it worth fixing? Sounds like they don't run well enough to make it worth the time.

There are some that use these successfully.They are noisy,they vibrate,they are under powered reliability is suspect.Parts for the powerhead may be available at a small engine shop. or certified parts corp.
Persomally I would save my money for a 5,5.5,6 or 8 hp Evinrude or Johnson.
All kissing cousins in about the same weight class.Smooth quiet and relatively powerful,with routine parts available even here at iboats.

With the comments I've read on here about them and the local guy's input, I think I'll do just that. I'll find something more productive to do with my time than try to save this particular motor.
