Can't get out of its own way.
Idles fine, but cant get up on plane, Don't remember what rpms were but both engines are in sink., but when I hit throttle down and eventually full throttle, nothing, engines cant bring boat on too plane
Boat is a Regal Commodore 28.6
Twin 4.3 Volvo GXI engines
Owing a number of boats I am an experienced boater. This 28 footer is new too me, knowing its a learning experience with twin engines & trim , and tilt a big boat, but something is clearly wrong.
Purchased boat two weeks ago, with no books, history, or parts manual too refer too anything . ( Anybody know were too get a parts manual ?)
( manual I seek must have parts numbers for entire engine )
Boat was on consignment at a boat dealer. This dealer is a full service boat seller or new used, consignment, repair shop .
They went thru boat, compression, etc
Took out boat for a test , ran poor , same exact performance I am experiencing now , cant get up on plane, digging in.
Informing dealer I have no interest in boat.
Few days later went too dealer for refund. ( requirement for boat test )
Salesman said they knew nothing about the boat, they did something wrong.
Salesman said owner is willing too do boat test following day if I still had interest. Saying yes, we met next morning .
Boat was sitting at consignment shop 9 months, Fuel that was in boat was very low between empty and 1/4 but fuel was sitting in tank at least 9 months .
Took boat for a 45 minute test, ran great, up on plane, and came out of pocket full throttle like a bullet .
Purchased boat, came with a trailer.
Took home,

Fueled up with 35 gallons non ethanol marine fuel added too the low fuel that was in tank .
Put boat into marina .

Following day took out for our first spin in our new boat.
Bit nervous , slowly working both throttles damn, performed same bad way it did on first sea trial .
Digging in into water, stern all the way under swim platform, almost too the point boat could be swamped ?
Adjusting trim , no help, clearly both engines performing same . ?
Very disappointed

Calling Old owner, he had plans on coming down too show us things on boat consignment shop knew nothing about , saying boat is running like crap
Same as it did first sea trail, but ran great with you ???????
Old owner comes down taking boat out, he hits both throttles, he saw exactly what I was talking about ?
He had no idea
We did discover distributor cap loose on port engine, tightened down
Took out again, same.

I changed fuel water separator filters on both engines.
Changed generator water separator filter which originally I thought had something too do with engine filters, but discovered it was separate.
What I did see is 105 gallon plastic gas fuel tank, with fill and over fill.
3 fuel lines , one each too engines, other too generator
Both engines run equal sounding same.
Thinking fuel injector pumps ? on both engines at same time at high rpms ? Both pumps bad ???
If anything one engine would be running better then the other but both are equal ?
Is there something I am missing, another fuel filter buried ?
Is there a filter in gas tank ?

All roads lead back too fuel but remember it ran great with original owner ? And I added fresh marine fuel 35 gallons . Not my driving or handling cause old owner experienced what I am now ????
Was thinking bring down a 12 gallon gas tank.
Disconnect fuel lines from tank and run fresh fuel . Don't like doing this but process of elimination

Two fuel pick ups going too each engine could there be a blockage on strainer on both ?
Is there a filter for gas tank . ?
Each fuel pick up tube has a small strainer at bottom but blockage on both ??

Am I missing something so basic ?

Sorry so long ,

Are you sure that the trim is working is working on both motors? The way you say it really digs in strikes me as a motor isn't trimmed down all the way.

Hear them clearly up and down and dash trim gauges are operating, how accurate, ? but both working
thanks for a response.
I am on hold waiting for maybe a response from another boater, that a light bulb will go off.
All roads lead back too fuel, except as I stated ran bad, ran good now bad and cant figure why ???
Sometimes the something simple as a ground but of coarse not in this case
I happened too be on phone with Regal and tech said maybe somebody sole your props ?? or swapped out, ?? Don't think so.

Saga continues
