I have.twin 230 i/o merc, alphas with an engine syncro. on the dash.Starb motor is always less rpms except at idle.I assume a cable adjust is necessary.I had shift cable and all bellows, gimbal bear etc. done in the spring,I was wondering if the mechanic didnt properly adjust??? Charlie

My tachometers and synchronizer don’t always match either. I just adjust the throttles until the synchronizer is centered. You can also tell by the vibration and sound of exhaust when you are synchronized. It could be engine tuning, variation between your shafts and props or a number a minor things.

Yea you should be able to. When you are at idle it could be both cables have hit the stop and one still has a little flex in it. When you open the one with no flex the carb opens right away. The other will be a little late because you are taking the flex out. Would try closing both throttles, take the linkage loose from both engines, should just be taking the cotter pin and nut off the linkage bolt and seeing if the bolt on the carb matches the hole on the linkage. Mine has an all thread at the end of the throttle cables at the carb end where adjustments can be made. Also, if you can, check to see that the linkages on both throttle levers are in the same place.

One other thing, you being I/O, I assume that the out drives are aligned. One does not have to work a little harder.

On the other side Charlie, as you know, it could be something as simple as a fuel filter. Good luck.

CC- I just adjusted my throttle linkages when I installed the engines. Mine are just barely off. You can probably just tweak them when you're playing around and adjust them to close up that inch. As I am running I always check the tachs just to be sure they are both equal out of habit.
