Twin 350's on a 35' Webbcraft

Here's a bit of a question:

There's a boat for sale locally that is an '86 Webbcraft w/twin 350's. I would assume the outdrives are Alpha I's, but not positive as the pic shows the drives from a distance. Would twin 350's be adequate for a "cigarette-style" boat of that length/weight? The Webbcrafts were decently built boats made near Tulsa, but I don't generally see too many in this size range and they tend to be similar to the Wellcrafts of the time period. Long and heavy. Obviously it wouldn't be a speed demon of any sort, but I wold assume it could grab 60mph or so. Many boats I see in this size have the 454's in them. Thought? Opinions?

it may be able to hold 60......but that depends on the ratios of the drive.

as long as its twins......your good

Well, the dilemma comes in further when there's a 30ft Wellcraft w/twin 454's (TRS outdrives) for basically the same price. Both are asking close to $12K w/trailers. So one is longer with SBC's and Alphas, and one is shorter with BBC's w/TR's. Similar model years, overall great condition, etc. Just kind of tossing some ideas around. Obviously the 30' w/BBC's will likely have better holeshot and slightly higher top speed, but it's an interesting tradeoff. The length isn't as much of an issue as we only boat on large inland lakes, so no rough water.

Well there usually isn't much time spent idling, but cruising in the 30mph range would be the most likely use. It's a question of how much fuel do you use with 350's pushing a 35' boat vs 454's pushing a 30' boat. I'm not sure the extra 5' make up much weight on that particular style of boat, but it just seems like the 350's would have to be run a bit hard on a 35'er. Never dealt with it, so I have no frame of reference coming from the single screw SBF.

Here's a link to the CL ad on the Webbcraft. Not a fan of the boat name and the "shark" paint job, but it could be painted over pretty easily.

The Wellcraft is at a local boat repair shop and was probably surrendered in lieu of repair payments. I have used the shop a couple of times on my boat (bellows/shift cable replacement) and they are good couple of guys. I wouldn't take either one without a water test, but they both appear to be cosmetically in good condition.
