I have twin 70 2strokes on an 18 ft deep 'V' Hull

I think they are mounted too low. 2inches below point of hull at centre line of each engine.
There is a bow wake that pushes water over the transom at times, I have a top speed of 37mph at 5800rpm.
To raise them 2" I will have to drill new holes in a thiner section of the transom at the top.
I was thinking of using a jack plate?
Any help would be appreciated.

Tony

Re: Twin Engine Height

A couple of manual jackplates would be the best option. When you say they are 2" below we assume you mean the AV plate right above the prop. If so, yes, that's too low. By 3" or so depending on what props you use.

Also reset your toe in when you raise them. 1/8" to 3/8" in.

Re: Twin Engine Height

Dhadley, thanks for your reply.

Yes the AV plate is 2in below hull.

I have been checking out a few jackplates and when they say 4in of adjustment do they mean 2in up and down? or 4in up? as I would like to use the same holes and not have to drill any more.

I think I need to start by raising them around 3in as the jackplate will create more setback, would you agree?

Tony
