Re: two nissan outboard questions

On Tohatsu/Nissan OB motors, year is unimportant for servicing; model and serial is everything. If you have an NS9.9D2 or earlier, the part you need is 350661100M SHIFT LEVER $18.37, available from any Tohatsu/Nissan dealer, including me.

In the 4-stroke lineup, the old 18 was in the same block/frame family as the 9.9 and 15. Several years ago, the 18 was dropped entirely from the lineup, being replaced by the current 15/20, which is based on a different block.

Tohatsu's 18, 2 strokes are 300 CC, and 20, 4 strokes are 350 CC.

The earlier block of the MFS18B2 displacement is 328 cc. The newer block design of the MFS20C is 351 cc.

Was rounding as in cars ( 294 CC) the 18E2 block, and yes, 1 CC more than stated on the 20...
