Two oil plugs on top?

I have two oil plugs on top of my lower unit for<br />venting when I change the oil. Does anyone know why they would put two there? It's not like one is higher than the other (one is in the center, another just to the right of that one) Oh and I did see the dreaded "shift pin screw" in front of the lower part of the gear case, which I will promptly scilicon (sp) first chance I get. Just wondering if putting 2 in had any purpose other than to confuse  . Sorry..'96 Force 75hp.

Thought of that after I posted, I guess that I can drain from the bottom pulg then put it back, and fill from the spare hole in the top. First time I heard of them making it easy (and less messy  ). Makes sense to me, (now I'am really scared). Thanks Doc.

Just got me the Bayliner 1700 Capri and the 85Hp Force engine. The Manual, Seloc, shows you filling from the bottom. That is darn hard when it takes 2.6 tubes of lube! I was looking real close and the first or rear most screw says Vent above it and the other says Fill. Works for me and seems a better way of filling the gear lube.
