1.when installing heads and adjusting valves on a merc 4.3L vortec the manual says after no lash is felt to then turn one full turn, i've always been told that that is too much that 3/4 of a turn is better. what would be better?

2. on a v-8 350 merc. i am installing 3" spacers under the riser to raise the riser. It is raw water cooled. my question is on the set up, this wasn't in the service bulletin. from manifold to spacer i put a gasket with four slots, from spacer to riser i put a gasket with 2 slots and 2 restrictors. would that be correct. also should i route the house from the thermostat to the spacer rather than the riser itself like it was originally?

I would do what the manual says if it is the Proper Merc manual....

The gaskets sound right......
I would put the hose to the riser.....;)
