1979 Johnson Seahorse model# 4w79d
does this motor have points or what?
Im wanting to put an external fuel tank in the boat for this motor because the built in tank only holds about 1 to 2 quarts of gas. I have several small automotive electric fuel pumps that I could use with a pressure regulater. If I new what to set the fuel pressure to. im sure very very low?

Suzuki40

Re: Two questions....

Hi suzuki....

No points on that puppy. Sensor coil and power pack.

I would think twice about an electric fuel pump. First...ya got to figure a way to shut the thing down if the motor stops and then come up with a back-up if the first one don't work. It's a safety thing. Engine smokes and shuts down and the electric pump keeps pumping fuel. Not a good situation. Please thing about it.

Re: Two questions....

Hey Outboardjim,
Thanks for putting that in perspective for me. I just thought the floats would shut the fuel off when the bowls got full, but after thinking about it, I dont want that to be my means off safety on a boat knowing the nature of those things.

Thanks a bunch,
Suzuki40
