I've got a 1948 KE4 with a Scintilla magneto. The motor came with the mag plate all apart and no spark plug wires. I have the big Mercury service manual and a parts list. However, I haven't been able to find a good pic or description of which coil fires which plug. My first question is: If I look at the FRONT of the motor with the coils centered left and right, does the left spark plug wire go to the top or bottom plug? All the parts list says is "Long Lead and Short Lead".
My second question is: How do you hook up a remote throttle to this motor? If it runs, I want to put it on an old hydro I'm restoring. I haven't been able to find any pictures or descriptions of how to hook up a throttle either on the net or in the library. It must not be too hard 'cause they raced a billion of these motors "back in the day". Can anyone turn me on to pics or instructions on how to get the carb and magneto to operate with a cable throttle?
