In a different post, a comment was made regarding top and bottom carbs being different on a 1975 135HP. The comment was in reference to the throttle WOT stop and that the bottom carb did not have one. So I looked at mine and they appear to be exactly the same carb bodies. By having a stop, are we talking about the molded carb body that juts out? Or is the body the same but the lower carb just has different linkage and a shorter pin that does not reach the stop on the body?

The attached photo shows my two carbs the bodies look the same but the lower carb has a shorter pin on the throttle that does not reach the stop on the carb body. Can you tell if these carbs are top/bottom and if they were both top carbs would that create any problems?

Well, see that's why I asked someone to check my statement. I'm pretty sure in '77 that stop was gone from the bottom carb. '75 - I don't know. The bottom carb should have the manual choke linkage on the port side.

That it does. And yes, i was hoping someone would check your statement but as yet that hasn't happened ;-) With this dang idle issue, I'm grasping at whatever I can for that 'ahah' moment.

Thanks,

If you've got idle issues it's more than likely you need to clean out the idle capillaries. Disassemble the carbs, and on the top side of the float bowl, on the carb body (not the float bowl) you'll find a circular plug. Under that plug are the idle capillaries. They're probably all plugged up.
