two types of 1983-1990 MR Alpha trim cylinders

Anyone know when exactly they switched? the parts books list two sets..supposedly different lengths but my cylinders are missing so I have nothing to measure

98704A 3 TRIM CYLINDER (STARBOARD)
98703A 3 TRIM CYLINDER (PORT)

14034A 3 TRIM CYLINDER (STARBOARD) (BLACK)
14035A 3 TRIM CYLINDER (PORT) (BLACK)

timely thread A buddy called me about noon today. asking about the same thing. he put the wrong ones on and broke a bunch of stuff. I dont have the info. sorry.
