what type of starter goes to a 55 hp chrysler engine model 557HA? my old starer says its a prestolite but i cant find a replacment from them. i need help big time.

You should post pics of what you have.Some one will have one setting around.
I'm not sure the starter b-man listed for you is the right one.It's for the newer 50's According to your #s you have a 70's something motor and it takes a shorter starter.I think!!! Post a pic,with the starter on the motor.
You might be able to extend the life by taking it apart and turning the brushes upside down.J

wick ware that engine of yours is identical to mine. you wouldnt have a spare starter by any chance? if not do you know what type of starter that is cause that would be a LOT OF HELP right there.

Ask them for pics.
Or try Valley They have lots of old stuff.A call to Valley is best.
