92 Alpha One Gen II. Just got the drive off and looks pretty crappy in there. The U joints are a bit crusty and rusty, but can they be cleaned up or sanded or must I replace them?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: U Joints

Bigger question is how did the water get in there?

U joints are cheap and relatively easy to install. No sense in taking a chance. And as the Doctur says - ;) - you obviously need to fix the water intrusion as well.

Re: U Joints

definitely, I ended up ordering the kit with the whole shebang, may as well take care of everything while I have it apart. As for how the water got in there I have no idea. I am taking the bell housing off today and investigating. I am assuming there is a whole in the bellows, but I have water, gear oil, and grease in there from what I can see and when I went to turn the bearing with my finger it was gristly feeling and then it fell apart so obvious issues.
