One day While At the local Boat launch, I was waiting for my brother to return with the truck/trailer Pulling out.<br /><br />On the Next Dock I watch this guy putting in , .. <br />Then him and a lady get out of the truck and tie the boat to the dock, the whole time hes telling her how great this boat is going to be, I gathered<br />this wAS his first launch with this boat...<br />She didnt want to stay on the dock and wait for him to go park, they leave together,<br />about 15-20 min later, I notice "Hmm that boat sits pretty low. in the water" <br />Wondering Where in the world is my bro?"<br />little did i know a cop had pulled this guy over Blocking the only way to the parking lot...<br />mean while this guys boat isnt doing to well staying on top of the water Im thinking Drain plug?.. so i run over there lay down on the dock and start feeling around his transum for the whole<br />But i was not only born with short arms, but a twisted kind of sense or humour..Sure .I could have tryed harder, or mabey pulled it into shallow water?.... Nawww!! <br />my Bro gets back with the trailer and tells me about the cop and why it took so long.. i dont mention the other guys boat, And he never notices..But its beond saving by now... then before we leave i ask my bro to mabey not leave yet... He asks why? well he didnt ask me but, lets keep an eye on his unattended Low Rider boat. I start to giggle as i see the couple walking back<br />the Running!! Then sprinting! hes swearing and throwing a real good fit... when he looks over at us in our truck looking back at him Laughing.,, then we drive off....<br />Later thinking to myself i hope that guy wasent thinking we sank his boat??... "OHH WELL!"<br />"You should have seen his Face!"

If it had been me standing at that boat launch that guys boat would not have sank. I may have gotten wet but I don't melt. It's hard for me to conceive the idea of anyone just sit and watch someone elses boat sink without doing something to prevent it.

Joe,<br />Interesting first post. :( <br />I don't believe, many of us see the humor, in letting someone's boat sink. You seem proud of the fact.

That is not the ShaoFin way he must be part of an evil sect bent on destroying anything and everything good. Personally I would have even taken a swim rather than let ANYONE elses boat sink or come into harms way. I also would have tried to get the guys attention as soon as I noticed any problem better him to call me a name at first and end up thanking me in the end (at least in his head if not in public) than let the boat sink.

Joe, Joe, Joe....what are you doing? Have some feelings man. I would have personally swam out there to save the boat. Not only that, I would have stayed to help bail the boat out too. Come on man, have a heart....life is what you make it. Good thing this is listed under STUPID human things. Good things happen to those who deserve it!

You did contribute to sinking his boat! For you not to do anything but sit there and laugh at that guy - you are to blame as well. <br /><br />You mentioned in your post you assumed it was his first time out by his comments. This is an easy mistake to make, especially if you are a novice. It is up to those of us who have experience to help others. What do you think this forum is about - helping others.<br /><br />Your lack of respect for another person is something you should be ashamed of - especially after bragging about it. There is no room here for that kind of crap.<br /><br />With your actions like they are, I hope you are never on the same lake as I am, no telling what your navigation morals are!!!

That kind of attitude is what is wrong with our society. <br /><br />Generally, boaters are a very sharing group. We have to be, there are lots of folks out there that want to ruin our pastime.<br /><br />I agree with: "what goes around, comes around".

Re: U should have seen his Face!

S.J., you need to open a new thread titled, "you should have seen my face, after I read all your guy's post's." A little common courtesy goes along way! Okay, maybe you didn't have to jump in the water to save his boat, but informing him and offering him a hand instead of laughing at him would have been enough. You must not have run into the situation were you needed a hand, and when you do, you will look back upon this.

Are you for real? I bet you owned a PWC before you bought your boat. Go away...

Re: U should have seen his Face!

We all agree that SJ did wrong. But telling him to leave the forum is like telling sinners to get out of the church. This is a forum for learning. Not only how to provide advice on how to maintain, troubleshoot, fix, etc., but also, hopefully, how to be more courteous boaters. I'd prefer we encourage SJ to stick around...maybe he'll learn a thing or two. Ofcourse, SJ, it would be nice if you said you were sorry.

Re: U should have seen his Face!

It's one of those universal "unwritten rules" of the sea, that if you see a boat in distress, you do what you can to help out. I'm confident that at least 99% of boaters do abide by this - and besides you never know when it might be you that needs the help.<br /><br />SJ, I'm not surprised that your post caused a stir here. It's one thing to laugh at stupid behaviour at the boat ramp, but a totally different thing to stand by and let a disaster happen when you could easily have prevented it.

well, it IS called "stupid tricks" for a reason. looks like YOU were the one who did the stupid trick in not helping a guy out. but, live and learn, and next time, do unto others............ ;)
