94 GW Invader 220 Rivera
5.8L (Ford 351) Cobra
987126 (TO756794)

I thought I'd REALLY clean the bilge this evening, and after standing on my head on the port side for an hour, moved to the starboard side - greased my arm so I could squeeze it into the bilge - and my first wipe I came back with... A HOSE ????

This is maybe a 1/4" ID line that comes out of the transom shield. The end is cut at a 45, and it was just laying under the engine in the bilge.

PLEASE tell me this a relief or something that is just supposed to lie there

hello
sounds like the bell housing drain hose. it plugs into the lower stbd side of the bell housing to drain it if water gets in. no worries if that is what it is.
good luck and keep posting

This hose comes out of the top of the transition housing between the bell housing and the transom shield. It appears to be too high to really drain anything unless by siphon. It seems to be coming from the transom, but the hole it enters is hard to see into. Any other ideas?

I've seen them several times and never had the 45 degree end plugged into anything. I'm with rodbolt, it's a drain and supposed to be there.
