It just won’t start. Plugs are good, everything else is good and I just changed the gear oil. I’m at 50:1...

I would bet you saw spark on the plugs.----Not a good test.----Does spark jump a gap of 1/4" or more ?

starting involves fuel ignition and...oxygen while being compressed

sparks may be weak due to a bad condensers did you service the ignition yes.. no ?

did you clean the carb yes ..no ? what exacrtly did you do to " clean" it

try to spray some fuel in the carb face .. if you get a result it may indicate no fuel reaches the cylinders (carb job needed.) check the choke plate see if it closes ..this is critical to sucking gas from the low speed channel of the carb via 3 small drip holes under that dime size plug on top. . a small channel allows gas to be sucked up th side then down the drip holes.

are the needles open about 1.5 turns from closed yes .. no ?

these small engines ferquently have a blown head gasket between the 2 cyl. did you check compression yes.. no ? what are the results ??

You mis-understand.-----Sparkplugs are not used when testing the condition of the magneto.-----Do you see spark on the plugs , yes ?----Do you see spark when magneto is forced to produce maximum output ?----Do you see spark jumping a gap of 1/4" on some testing device ?

Check spark strength with something like this

best $10 i ever spent. Bought it after chasing no start on a 1975 5 hp evinrude. Had spark at plugs but wouldnt run, eventually ohmed out the coils both of which were bad, on this if the soark wont jump 1/4” you cant do much with it. Should be nice blue spark not orange or white
