I usually dont think of this until I am sliding the drive on and watching the shift lever placement. How should the ujoint be positioned to slide w/o getting caught on the large rubber gasket ring on an alpha?I dont recall which way is best.Charlie

There is no "Preferred" position for the ujoints, but I always glue that large ring (a) in so it doesn't get knocked out of place. I use the Merc bellows adheisive.

I always glue it in as well Don,but I am positive there is a preferred way to have the ujoint turned to lessen the chence of it getting caught on the robber gasket.I read it in a publication and installed the drive that way about 5 years ago and totally forgot about it after that.Until of course I am installing the drive and it stops sliding smoothly for a second and THATS when I remember.Charlie
