...from the Adults Only section.

I need to download manual #6 in the Adults Only section for the Mercruiser manuals. I click on the link to download the manual for Alpha One (1st generation), but only get the first 7 pages...which is up to and including the Manual Outline. (77kb worth)

I see that next to the link it says you must open each section individually to save, so maybe thats my problem.....i dont know how to do this. I am using Safari 4 (and Firefox too) on my MacBook if that matters. I've looked everywhere to see where I can download each section individually, but cant find anywhere to do it. Only seeing the outline for the sections I need is such a tease.......

And please excuse that fact that this is in the actual Engine Repair and Maintenance section, I didnt see any other "site related" problem or question area to post this in.....

Thanks for any help you all can provide....

When you go to either manual link (BT's or the Adults Only link) it will open only the first 7 pages.
Just go to the Manual outline, scroll your cursor over the different sections and watch for the cursor to change when you are over the link.

Easiest way to do it is put your cursor over the section letter (not number) and download and save to your computer. Make a new folder and call it what you want and put all the sections in the folder.

Ok, thanks guys. You both got me closer to where I wanted to be, and I finally figured out the rest.

For somem reason, the links to the other sections are dead for me (even in the boatfix.com pdf file link). But I was able to copy and paste what the actual title of each sections were ("6A4R3.pdf", etc etc) into the address bar and "manually" go to each page via my web browser (instead of the .pdf links) and download each section i needed. It is not as efficient, but I got what I wanted. Without your help, I wouldnt have even known the lettered sections were links.

Thanks for the help.....

Your problem has to do with Firefox using the download manager thing to download the section and then displaying it in a new window. The link in the PDF is looking for the other files in the "same" location. But, since the Firefox download manager put the file into /tmp and then opened the file, the link is looking for the files in /tmp/xxx instead of the internet address.

Sounds like you figured out how to adapt and overcome. My explanation is more so for the next person using Firefox or similar and has the same problem.

If the website would just let us browse to the directory and view all the contents, it would make it easier to <select all> and then <copy> ... hint hint hint

Thanks for the explanation, Ken. I was wondering if Firefox was part of the problem.

He is using a Mack  (isn't that some sort of truck?;)) which might do things a little different.

I did try to open it in Konqueror (which was written by the same people that wrote Safari!....In Fact Safari is a version of Konqueror)

It appears that you need to ensure that you have the correct browser "helper-app" to open it in the browser. Then you can use the browser to navigate the whole document.

If you want to download the entire document, you need to save every section in a folder (directory etc) and ensure that Adobe Acrobat (or whatever PDF viewer you're using) looks in that folder for the "pieces".

Cheers,

Rick
