Uncovered the boat today for the first time this year and if I say so myself it did not look to bad at all.
Still gave her a polish and a vacuum though.
One question though this is my first time I am going to start it after being winterized.
Everything I have read says just hook her up to a water supply and fire her up, how does the cooling water get passed the thermostat to cool the manifold or is it forced up from the inlet?
Regards Uglee

2 ways to do this, one is use muffs do not goose it, leave at idle only and two bring it to dock, leave on trailer ( only if by yourself!!!!) and fire it up AFTER the Lower unit/outdrive is COMPLETELY submerged ................

if there is a line at the ramp, then drop it in and do it at the dock................

and very very nice boat you have there :)

You didn't mention what type of outdrive and cooling system, but generally speaking on the mercruiser you hook up the muff's and the water will be drawn up through the intake, up and through the lower unit and into the engine. The water pump will then cycle the water through your engine and once the temp of the water reaches the same setting as your thermostat, likely 160, the thermostat will open and allow water to complete the cycle.

Prior to that though, double check the oil level in the lower unit, engine oil level and the condition of all hoses and belts. Wouldn't hurt to be sure that all the drain bolts are installed and tightened - block, manifold, risers, etc. I know you say it was winterized, assuming by a shop, but I've seen the best shops screw up and not change the engine oil, leave out bolts, etc.

Thanks for the complements we like her.
It?s a 3.0 liter mercruiser with an alpha 2 stern drive.
Also thanks for the info about the starting, it just sounds strange to me that I had to drain the manifold to winterizes but don?t have to fill it before starting for the first time, so it?s going to be muffs and a gas mask (as I did not skimp on the fogging oil). Not some strange roll playing thing.lol

If it never gets warm enough to pop the t-stat, then no fresh water will flow into the engine itself and.... that is perfectly fine.

Don't worry, it will fill up on its own!

Reading this, I'm reminded of the movie "The Mist". It must have been fogging oil that caused all the stuff in that movie. :p

Hopefully this week I can see my boat for the first time.
Your boat looks fast just sitting on the trailer!
